Capital Area Process Service, Inc.
After many successful years as a Leon County Deputy Sheriff, Ron Colson left the Sheriff’s Department seeking to serve in a political office.  Having earned a reputation for an exceptional ability to locate and contact individuals for the service of subpoenas, summonses and criminal warrants, it wasn’t long before he was contacted by law firms that knew of his abilities and success.  This quickly led to the beginning of a private investigation and process service business.  Seeing that the time needed for one interfered with the other, the business soon focused strictly on the service of process.  This all began way back in 1986.

In the beginning, authorization to serve process was controlled completely by the county Sheriffs.  In time, the industry grew and as more and more firms learned of the benefit of using the services of professional process servers, judges found that a better and more organized system of certification was needed.  This led to the successful support for legislation to create the Certified (Circuit) Process Servers program.  While it was not established in all Florida circuits, the 2nd Judicial Circuit of Florida was quick to create its program, and (recognized as the regional industry leader for knowledge, experience and integrity) Ron Colson was appointed by the Chief Judge to serve as Chairman of the new 2nd Judicial Circuit Process Servers Review Board.  This board established a program for the training, testing and disciplinary reviews of professional process servers in Leon, Gadsden, Jefferson, Wakulla, Liberty and Franklin counties.

Though planning for only a one-man operation, dependable quality and service inevitably leads to a successful business.  Our operation was no different.  Having made use of the latest technology, and provided the very best in service, Ron soon found it necessary to bring in his wife, Karen, to handle the administrative tasks and to serve process among the professional and state offices around Tallahassee.  Karen’s accounting and organizational skills greatly enhanced the company’s ability to accomplish more services in less time and to enable immediate communications with our clients so that, in addition to the fastest available service of process, the clients of Capital Area Process Service don’t have to wait days and weeks to learn if their process was served.  Most have come to expect their process to be served within 24 hours.

We also provide immediate service in filing your corporate documents with the Florida Secretary of State, Division of Corporations.  When you overnight your filings for early morning delivery, we file your documents promptly and upon completion by the Division of Corporations, copies of the filing are faxed or sent to you electronically.  Additionally, we can assist you in obtaining Apostilles for your notarized documents.  Quite often, a call to Karen can ensure that you don’t waste time and money sending something that the Secretary will not issue an Apostille for.

As our sons completed school, each came aboard and learned the business along with a good work ethic.  Ron II was first, later deciding to serve in the US Marine Corps.  Today, he has a family of his own, in Oklahoma, and is working for a major international computer company.  Chris, now 41, has a wife and four children, and he has been serving process with the company since high school.

Capital Area Process Service, Inc. has seen other process servers and agencies come and go.  Many have thought it to be a way for an easy dollar, only to find out that the benchmark was set too high for them.  Often, they help us by demonstrating the superiority of our service.  For this, we say “Thanks!”   We have served the many businesses, professions and institutions that depend on fast and proper process service for the past 30 years.   Throughout this time, we’ve provided an unparalleled level of service.  If you’re a current client, we offer our sincere thanks!  If not, please give us the opportunity to demonstrate what has kept others relying on our service as we are now about to enter our 4th decade of service.
